Hi, I’m Tammie.

I am a woman and a doctor.  I’m an entrepreneur with two businesses that are dedicated to supporting other women physicians.  I’m also a wife, a fur mama, a daughter and friend.  I play piano, immerse myself in nature and I volunteer.  I enjoy wine, reading and candles (preferably all at the same time).  And I give myself permission to enjoy every single bit of it, including work.

Just like you, I struggle with balancing all that I am and all that I do. 

As a woman physician, it has been incredibly challenging to have a life outside of work.  There was a time that I thought that my only opportunity to have a full life was to quit medicine.  At a critical time in my career I experienced debilitating burnout.  I was exhausted in every way, emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. I had been carrying immense pressure on my shoulders and was desperate for a way out. 

Then I said it out loud, “I need help”.  The three most important words I’ve ever said.

My story is not unlike that of many countless other women physicians, and that breaks my heart.  I did seek help and also formed a support community.  I learned that it’s possible to navigate a life in medicine and show up fully engaged in work and all other aspects of my life.  

I won’t claim that it was a magical transformation process.  There’s no magic pill.  But most days, I can honestly say I’m living the life I craved for myself all those years I was struggling. By exposing my vulnerability and showing up to learn how to be a bold, brave, compassionate and joyful leader in medicine, I realized it’s actually possible. 
  

If I can do it, you can do it too.  That’s my dream. 

For you, for our daughters, for all healers, physicians and providers.   We are needed in this world.  And because of that, we need to take care of ourselves.  I am here for you, and together we can change the way we walk through this beautiful, crazy world.
